Hey, it's Brooke. Just wanted to tell you I'm so sorry I haven't updated the blog in weeks! We have moved to Fayetteville and I'm smack dab in wedding season. Hold on...posts are on their way!

Mile Marker

my car arrived at a milestone a couple days ago. i was driving home from church with elle and silas and got to watch my car reach 111,111 miles...i wonder if i will double that mileage? i bought it with about 40,000 back in december of 2003 (days before elle was born). five and a half years later, she's still running strong. i may be putting more miles on though now that i'm driving from Fayetteville to Rogers 3-4 days a week. thanks iphone for the pics. it is actually quite challenging to snap a picture while driving 70 mph down I540, so i took several just to make sure i got it :)

a good day to be a dad

Monday, June 15, 2009
a couple of days ago i had one of those morning that just assured me i love being a daddy of three kids. i had gotten up a little early and was preparing a bit for a Bible study i was leading later. i had been sick with a nasty sinus cold and the meds weren't working yet. i heard a kid walking down the stairs and it was silas. as he came around the corner i heard him stop, and then he asked the kindest question. "Dad, how are you feeling today?" i can't believe he is old enough to know that i was sick and then cared enough to ask!

next came elle's turn. i poured myself my customary bowl of cereal, cut up a few strawberries, and got all set to eat it. next came another amazing question. "Daddy, would you like to eat your cereal outside with me on the swing?" Wow! what dad in the world would turn down that offer. it was so fun...a nice cool summer morning, bowl of cereal, and my little girl swinging with me on the porch :)

finally, maye, the sweet little one year old that she is, absolutely loves me!!! i don't say that to toot my own horn, but it simply is remarkable! neither elle nor silas actually chose me when they were this age, but that morning (like every other morning these days) maye walked right past brooke and came to me to pick her up! what can i say...she's a daddy's girl and i love it!

my funny brother in law ben

Thursday, May 21, 2009
if you scroll down a few posts you'll notice the pics of elle and uncle matt on the motor cycle. my other brother in law ben posted this comment about that - tooo funny not to share:

"The Roddas know who the original biker babe is in the Robinson family....

Years ago I let Brooke ride my motorcycle. I remember telling her to keep her elbows up because if she dropped them the bike was going to accelerate. I had a YZ 125 that was super fast. As she got closer to the tree she slowed down a little just to be safe. However sure enough she dropped her elbow which resulted in her wrist dropping, which resulted in her laying onto the throttle... hard. The sound was awesome as it screemed, the dirt kicked up in the air and nearly threw Brooke off of the bike. The bike lunged forward towards the fence so she laid off of the throttle for a second and turned the wheel away from the fence at this point she dropped her elbow again and.... did the coolest donut I have ever seen which resulted in her dismounting the bike. We ran over between gasps of laughter to find her just then realizing what had happened. Kym and I still laugh at the mention of this story to this day."

Boys stay away!

Here are some recent pics of Elle. My thoughts are...FINLEY GET YOUR GUN LOCKED AND LOADED! What will we do when the teen years get here. I'm praying daily for Elle to be grounded in the Lord and for a humble, serving, selfless spirit.
anyways...she's figured out how to work the camera...that's for sure!

rotten egg

Ready for some sickness. Ok, towards the end of April I started smelling something gross in the kids room. Every time I went in there i was disgusted by a certain yucky odor!
I checked all the toy bins, under all the beds, dressers, in the closet. COULD NOT find what or where the smell was coming from. Finally, last week Elle had opened her ballet dress-up drawer and sure enough my nose went right to the smell. Under these cute pink tutu's was the nastiness. At the back of the drawer was a rotten, oozing Easter egg! That's right...hidden since EASTER! I asked Elle if she had done this. She said no. So i cornered Silas and asked him. He said, "Yep it was me, i hid it." Then with proud eyes and an extra lean toward me he said, "Pretty good hiding spot wasn't it!?"
