Christmas in Eureka Springs

Wednesday, December 26, 2007
we celebrated Christmas with brooke's family at the Grand Central Hotel. elle and her cousin stella always have such a great time together. they are only 2 days apart and turned 4 years old last week! silas has been riding his new spiderman scooter around the hotel lobby for 24 straight hours now and the girls are constantly coloring and playing with their new dolls. of course the two photographers got together yesterday afternoon for a little princess photo shoot on the streets of eureka.

NYC: the after show

here are a few leftovers from our trip to NYC. we had a great time together and loved our time in the Big Apple!

NYC: Day 3

Friday, December 14, 2007

well, we got an earlier jump this morning and headed down to rockafeller center again, but this time to see the Today Show. a few people texted us and said that we did in fact make it on tv, near the end of the taping. today was a gorgeous day, much better than then yesterday, so we headed down to soho for some shopping and to check out another apple store.
somewhere along the way, we captured our favorite picture of the trip...

after hanging out in soho, we made our way down to the financial district via Canal St. where all the vendors try and rip you with a cheap knock off. (ps...brooke is about the worst "wheeler and dealer" that i've ever seen!) We also checked out the Twin Tower sight, still breath taking! while we were down there, we saw the statue of liberty from afar and grabbed a couple of other downtown pics.

Funny thing about this trip...we have gotten tired about 2 hours earlier every day.So at 4:00 we decided to hit a movie...I Am Legend. it was cool to see it here in NYC where it was filmed, but since it is about zombies, it was pretty spooky to walk out of the theater onto the streets at night...we're supposed to get a noreaster' starting sometime tomorrow, so we'll see what happens with our flight. hopefully we'll make it back in time to see the kids...we miss them so much!!!

check back later for a link to more pics from our New York trip.

NYC : Day 2

Thursday, December 13, 2007

well, we woke up to a nasty new york day. we got back late after our date with jennifer garner and actually slept in a while. when we got up the rain/snow mix had just gotten started. we made our way into manhattan on the subway at grabbed a quick lunch at rockafeller center again. we hopped on the bus and headed north towards "The Met" we thought it would be a good idea to get out of the cold and rain.

the following picture was the highlight of our time at the met. i think we both realized that we don't really appreciate this kind of art. lots of paintings and strange sculptures. as we walked through the museum at airport speed and were passing everyone around us, we realized it was time to leave. this sculpture, however, reminded us our "cutie bootie" silas back home.

basically, after seeing jennifer garner on the first day, today was a bit of a letdown. it rained the whole time, but we were together and are having a really good time.

while brooke read The Shack at Borders, i went over to the apple store on 5th Ave. it was incredible! well over 200 people crammed into the store on a dreary new york night. music was blaring, macs everywhere! i researched a dinner spot on google maps while i was in there on one of their 50+ internet available computers and was completely inspired to get a new powermac.

brooke and i both agreed that our dinner tonight was the best pizza that we have ever had. using my father's tried and true principle of eating while out of town, we stopped at Patsy's which was completely fully of customers. (thanks dad for teaching me that a full restaurant means its good!). we had a great little table next to the window and watched people walk by as we shared an incredible meal together.

tomorrow we are getting up early to try and catch the today show, so watch for us if you can. hopefully we'll get to go see the world trade center site as well. off to bed!

NYC: Day 1

Wow. So much that we did today. We slept in a got some complimentary breakfast at the hotel. We took a 30+ minute subway ride into Manhattan. We got off at Rockafeller Center and saw the giant tree. We ended up eating lunch there and we will probably eat there again tomorrow it was so good! Our view was incredible b/c we sat and watched the ice skaters go around the rink. Next we headed to times square and purchased our broadway tickets for tonight. I’ve never seen so many people in my life! Next we wandered around for a few hours. We grabbed a couple of starbucks, went to a borders bookstore and then had dinner at chipotle, my favorite.

Finally we went to Cyrano de Bergerac, starring Kevin Kline and Jennifer Garner. We had what I call “Pretty Woman” seat, in a box near closest to the front on the left side. The play was pretty, but mostly we just wanted to see Jennifer Garner. We got a few good pictures of her, but then we stayed afterwards and saw her as she walked out the stage door. As you can see, booke has now completed one of her unment life goals, get her picture taken with Jennifer. Tomorrow we have some fun plans, but you’ll just have to wait and see what all happens.
