Bye Bye Shortcake

Saturday, February 28, 2009
We lost our sweet little Shortcake on Tuesday Feb 24th. God allowed us to see her last few breaths. It was very sad, I had no idea I would cry so hard.
After she passed, we held her for a bit and made her a bed to rest (made from a Converse box, we wanted her to go out in style). I've been trying to figure out why i wigged so much. Could be that she is as old as Maye, or i enjoyed feeding her broccoli in the middle of the night, or her incredible inverted rock climbing skills. I guess God made me an over nurturer and to see one of my little buddies suffer just did me in! Plus, I'm an animal lover to the extreme!! This was my first pet since i was in High School. I wanted so badly for Finley to perform CPR on her (hee hee).
Now, you can laugh at these pics...they are both sweet and funny. These tell the story of her last night and of the funeral.

when the older sister is in charge

the other day elle decided to play with her "baby" sister in our living room. she was quite creative, but also quite protective. maye had a great time just chillin' in her little basket/bed/playpen. it was hilarious to see her banging away on her piano, making all kinds of noises!

Valentine's date

Sunday, February 15, 2009
so i took elle on a little valentine date yesterday to Marketplace to get a Chocolate Mess. it was really fun and someone stopped me and said i had the prettiest date in the whole room. i ran into my old college advisor who's wife has MS and we ended up sitting right next to them. Elle was pretty amazed at the love the husband was showing the wife. we played go fish and ate chocolate with our fingers...it was really fun. i will say that it took elle a few minutes to warm up to the idea of being in a public place like that with just her dad. she kept saying she was embarrassed. i can't believe she is already old enough to be saying things like that to me! oh well...here's a quick picture i snapped with my phone...

Dear Silas,
You are a dream come true for your daddy and I. We can't imagine our lives without our boy. We pray daily that God would make you a man in love with HIM! Thank you for allllll the hugs, all your sweet words, all the laughs, all the funny faces, and that you play by yourself (haha).
Happy Birthday baby!

sneaky fruit snack eater

Monday, February 02, 2009
We just got home from running errands. Mondays are the days Elle goes to Mothers Day Out, so Silas and i get some good hang time and he always keeps me laughing. I told him he could have a pack of fruit snacks when we got home. So as he was 'playing by himself' he kept saying, "i still haven't had fruit snacks!". I would say...go buddy get them. I would hear little feet scamper to the pantry. 5 min later, "I still haven't had my fruit snacks!". Again i would say...Si get them dude...eat'em up! I heard little feet zip off to the pantry. Finally, after 15 min of this he bounds into my office and says, JUST KIDDING! Then he throws 3 empty packs of Lightening McQueen fruit snack packs on my lap.
What a joker! He's been talking my head off ever since...full of sugar.
