i was nervous and concerned when finley gave silas a small hand ax for Christmas. I was personally hoping Silas would never use it! What if he cut his hand...head...or someone else? well, last weekend Silas went out with Fin to chop wood. I thought Si was just watching his daddy till Silas knocked on the back door holding a log. "Look Mom, I chopped this myself!" Yep...with that little ax. Boys will be boys.

We acquired a few guinea pigs over Christmas break. Thanks Pappy! So far they are adorable to look at...yep thats about it. I now give these furballs about 30 min every day...cleaning, feeding, cleaning, washing towells, poopy, messy...etc. Kids and i are pet starved around here so we'll take what we can get!

My Friend on the Ground in Haiti

I have had the privilege of working with Craig Miller of Thirst No More on several occasions over the years. We have partnered with him on many of the mission trips that our student ministry has taken all over the world. He is currently located in the Dominion Republic and is leaving today to start assisting people in Haiti.

Here is a video in which he explains what is included in the the PAKs (Primary Assistance Kits) that he is personally delivering to the people in Haiti. $50 will provide all the materials as well as the means to transport them there. He is a man of God and a very trustworthy partner in this ministry to the people of Haiti. If you would like to bless a family, you can give to Thirst No More and Craig will pass it along.

Elle's 6th Birthday party

Elle turned 6yr old on Dec 19th. WHERE DID THE YEARS GO?! She wanted a sleepover with all her sweet buds. We had some special events planned such as - Cheerleaders leading the girls in dance, a fashion show, making sugar cookies,and making headbands. We love you Elle bell. You are such a joy to our family. Happy Birthday!

we've had the funny realization lately that our two older children are taking strong after their same parent. elle is bubbly and energetic in the mornings and silas is like moving concrete blocks. silas on the other hand is playful and witty at night and elle turns into a dragon around bedtime. funny, how that's already apparent by the time they hit five. the jury is still out on maye, but my guess is that she too will be like her mama...especially since she digs the coffee and creamer in the mornings!

Dear aunt Kym...! wowzers! i distinctly remember kym looking at me while she was fixing elle's hair and saying, " sorry B, i'm not asking permission i'm just doing it!"
and here you go....the beautiful elle bell robinson! elle kept telling me the rest of the day that she felt like she was getting married.

Chicago marathon

Finley Robinson ran the Chicago marathon on Oct 11th! He trained hard and he ran hard finishing the marathon in 3hours 36min. HE IS A CHAMP!!

my dear blog - i forgot to post that yours truly would be on the duggar show tonight.
about 2 months ago i got a call from my dear buds the Hudsons. Jim Bob Duggar had contacted them asking if they would be available to shoot their 25th wedding renewal. well, it was very short notice and being the popular Hudsons, they were already booked so they asked me to go in their place. So i did. I brought my friend Jenn, who wants to be a Duggar (she had a blast and was a bit star struck ;))
TLC was there filming the entire event. So tonight i made my big debut on TV!

marathon support - Team World Vision

well..i've been training since october for my first marathon which is coming up in about two weeks. i'm as in shape as i guess i'm going to get. brooke and i will fly to chicago on a friday and then the race is on sunday, october 11.

one of my goals for this marathon was to not just do it for myself, but also to be able to help others as well. i've joined the World Vision team in an effort to help raise some money to support those in need of food and medical supplies around the world.

i have set up an online giving account where people can give $10 (or more) to help support World Vision. i'm trying to raise between $750-$1000 and i've got a ways to go. you can click on this link and then type my name in (Finley Robinson) to the "Want to donate" section on the top right. after that, enter your info and it's all taken care of.

I hope to have these buddies over to the house every tuesday from here on out to play with SiSi. My little Silas has not adjusted well with Elle in kindergarten.

last week an amazing couple, Matt and Ginny, asked this old pom girl if i would help out with an amazing ministry, recess. My task...to dress up in my pom uniform and call the hogs.
well, i did it...couldn't breath from the lack of oxygen...but it was a great night!

you know those people in life who God has just blessed? who do things easily that you could never dream about? whose creativity just flows out of them? who, when they are just living life, bring a smile to your face. Ben Rector is one of those guys for me. i saw a video that he made over at the Mooney's blog and knew that it was worth sharing myself. Ben actually was a kamper one year at Kanakuk when i was a counselor many years ago. now he's married and living in Nashville working on his music. enjoy the smile :)

I've spent some of my time today reading a short book by Mark Driscoll (@pastormark) titled Pastor Dad. Some of the challenges are directed towards the men in his context in the northwest portion of our country, but I've found it very helpful and challenging. He covers a broad range of topics from worship to marriage to fatherhood to engaging culture. Its worth the 30-45 min it would take to read.

last year around Christmas time i was feeling the holiday pinch and decided to get most of our gifts online. i found myself most often at amazon.com because they had so many option for so many people. well i took a gamble and signed up for their "Prime" membership so that i could get most of our gifts in two days. they had a free 30 day trial and i kept it so that i might use it more over the year.

boy has it been incredible. from birthday gifts, to books, to photo gear, to dvds, we've ordered tons of stuff using our Prime membership. as busy as we are...to get FREE TWO DAY SHIPPING on most everything we order. i figured we would pay for the shipping anyway on some items, but i find myself buying so many things from Amazon now. no running to the store hoping to find what we need. their prices are always comparable and the stuff we order shows right up to our door step in two days. totally worth the investment for a busy family. seriously, check it out!
